Zhang Chao is widely known as one of the 'Six Little Dragons' alongside with Wang Hao, Chen Qi, Qiu Yike, Hao Shuai and Shan Mingjie. 4 among the 6 have become coaches and led their teams to compete at the National Games. Whereas Hao Shuai and Zhang Chao were still competing at the 2017 National Games. Zhang Chao has a decent performance at the Games but the defeat in the men's team semifinals has left him regrets. CCTV 5 has a fluff which featured behind the scene of the team competition and his struggles in the semifinals against Yan Sheng, a 20-year-old pips-out penholder from Team Sichuan.
