2017 Chinese Junior National Championships Results

The 2017 Chinese Junior National Championships took place from 20-26 October in Suzhou, China. The team champion went to Team Beijing (Boys') and Team Tianjin (Girls') and Yu Heyi and Shi Xunyao won the singles champion.

The 2017 Men's World Cup concluded unexpectedly with an all-German finals. Dimitrij Ovtcharov won his first ever World Cup champion, his compatriot, Timo Boll placed second and Ma Long from China settled for third.

New Quad, New Rankings In The Chinese Women's A Team


Members of the Chinese Women's A Team had an internal round-robin competition from 18-21 October. It was said that the bottom 3 would be relegated to Team B. Chen Meng was injured in the first round and had to pull out from the competition but should be able to keep her spot in the A Team.

After 3 days of round-robin competition, Ren Hao, Zhao Zihao, Niu Guankai and Zhang Yudong earned the precious spots on the men's A Team.

Fresh Faces In Chinese Men's B Team


The rising star at 2017 National Games, Xiang Peng makes the national team!12 provincial table tennis team athletes (born in 2001-2003) from all parts of China played a round-robin competition at the Chinese National Team in the last 3 days. The national team has selected the top 3 athletes Cao Yantao, Xiang Peng and Kuang Li to join the Men's B Team. 

Chinese Men's B Team Members Compete For Promotion



12 athletes from the Chinese men's B Team competed for the 6 spots on the upcoming Team A  promotion competition. Zhang Yudong, Kong Lingxuan, Song Xu, Zhao Zihao, Xu Haidong and Niu Guankai earned their chance to compete against the bottom 4 athletes from the A Team and may be promoted to the A Team while Li Yijie and Fang Yinchi the bottom 2 players were sent back to their provincial teams.  

Throwback Thursday: "Table Tennis Is My Love Forever" Said Legendary Coach Zhou Shusen


In last week's Throwback Thursday, we covered the story of coach Wang Tao and Ma Wenge. This week we will have a look at a very experienced coach who said "Table tennis is his love forever" in his new book! He is Zhou Shusen. You may not recall who Zhou Shusen is but you must have heard of the Singaporean women's team defeating the Chinese team and walked away with their first ever world team champion in 2010 WTTC. Well, Zhou Shusen was the coach of the champion-winning team.
