2018 Team World Cup Selection Results
After 2 days of intense trials, Chen Xingtong and Wang Manyu end up top 2 among 7 players and will join Ding Ning, Liu Shiwen and Zhu Yuling to compete in the 2018 Team World Cup which will be held in London from 22 to 25 February. The Chinese team will be sending Ma Long, Fan Zhendong, Xu Xin, Lin Gaoyuan and Yu Ziyang to compete in the men's team competition.

On September 6, the last competition day for table tennis at the 13th National Games, Xu Xin wrote a long thank you message on his weibo (a Chinese twitter) and here is the translation of his message.

While some might think it is a bit "old-school" as we are more used to see powerful loops and quick counter-attacks nowadays. CNG Throwback will take a look at a relatively more recent competition, 2009 Chinese National Games men's doubles final which is full of fantastic forehand loops, notably from the forehand masters Wang Liqin and Xu Xin.

In Translation: Table Tennis Documentary About The Marvellous 12
As the big events like World Championships and World Tour platinum have ended, there are not many occasions where the top Chinese players show up. With 49 days left to go before the Chinese National Games, most athletes choose to utilize every minute they have to train behind the closed door. Well, we can still find some in T2 APAC, a pan-regional table tennis league and UTTL, India's professional table tennis league. However the number of Chinese players is nowhere near the Chinese National Games and the Marvellous 12. Fortunately, Tecent Sports has presented a documentary (was taken down after the Chendu Three incident) about the Marvellous 12 just in time to fill up the off season.

At 21:49, 24 June, the Chinese National Team has signed an apology letter and released on CTTA website. Fan Zhendong and Ma Long have posted the letter on their Weibo as well.

Hello, it's been a long time for not updating. I'm not being lazy but because it has been a long busy week (following matches, translating interviews...). I've been catching up some matches of 2017 WTTC recently because there were so many amazing matches played simultaneously in the championships. If you have missed some matches, you can catch up or re-watch the matches on ITTV like what I've been doing these days. I have not covered every match of 2017 WTTC (as there are too many of them but I might catch up more eventually) but the followings are a summary and my thoughts on 2017 WTTC. Please comment below. In Translation: The Chinese Team in 2017 WTTC (CCTV5 Report)
The 2017 World Table Tennis Championships will be held in Dusseldorf, Germany, from 29 May to 5 June. It can be overwhelming to track down all the 330 male and 264 female players who will be playing in the 2017 WTTC. But the Chinese are definitely those you don't want to miss as they are the favorite of the championships. CCTV 5 has produced fluff featuring the Chinese players who will play in 2017 WTTC. Check the playlist below to watch the fluff with English subtitles!

Throwback Thursday: The Rising Star -- Lin Gaoyuan
As 2017 World Championships is around the corner, this week's Throwback Thursday features Lin Gaoyuan, who is going to make his World Championships debut in Dusseldorf. Two months ago, Lin Gaoyuan flared up the Marvellous 12, 2017 Chinese Trials for WTTC. He surprised everyone by beating Olympic champion Xu Xin twice and many other great Chinese players in the trials and clinched the second ticket to 2017 Dusseldorf World Championships where he will play in the men's singles.

Throwback Thursday: The Asian Champion Who Was One Step Shy of Being World Champion -- Cui Qinglei
Congratulations to the Chinese team who topped the podium in the 2017 Asian Championships women's team and men's team events. If you haven't followed the 2017 Asian Championships lately, it is not too late to watch it now! There are still the singles and doubles to come (Here is the TV schedule). The Chinese team has sent their top players to play in front of the home crowd in 2017 Asian Championships but Cui Qinglei from the men's team may be a relatively less-heard player. In this Asian Championships, Cui Qinglei was being heard but not seen as he did not have a chance to play in the team event despite being listed in the team lineup. No worries. This week's Throwback Thursday looks at notable moments of Cui Qinglei, the right-handed shakehand Chinese player.

The Chinese Trials has just ended while the preliminary round of the Chinese National Games is yet to begin. With players training hard for the next competition, there are not many news reported. So let's do a Throwback Thursday to review some of the great matches!
With the depth of the Chinese team, the selection process of the participants of the Worlds and the Olympic Games is no easy decision to make. There was Ma Lin missing the 2000 Olympics despite winning a silver medal in the Worlds in the previous year. There were also stories about Wang Liqin and Yan Sen the defending Olympic champion in the men's doubles losing to their compatriots Ma Lin and Chen Qi, which had cost them the tickets to Athens in 2004. Since 2006, the Chinese national team has started the Chinese trials to select players to the Worlds and has staged numerous exciting games for table tennis lovers. In the past 11 years, many dark horses, like this year's Lin Gaoyuan, has emerged to the national and international scene via the trials, while the legends take no privileges but fight hard to defend their spots. One of the classics is the match between Wang Liqin and Ma Lin at 2010 Chinese Trials.
