Hands up if you’re still in the post-Olympic haze like I do. While the postponement of sport events in the previous year might have contributed to a tighter-than-ever post-Olympic calendar, I figured what better way to take a break than with a preview of what’s coming up!
21-day Quarantine after Tokyo
Chinese athletes went straight into a 21-day quarantine after returning from Tokyo. Confined to their room without table tennis, some developed innovative ways to keep themselves in shape. Check them here! After surviving the quarantine, it’s still too early to celebrate the Olympic success. As there is no time to spare when the Chinese National Games is just round the corner.

2021 CTTSL in October Tentatively
The Chinese team would rather stay home playing CTTSL than competing abroad at WTT Doha contender and 2021 Asian Championships so that they don’t have to go through that 21 days without table tennis again. Past experience tells that CTTSL tends to make last-minute announcements, so far we only know it might be played in October but the schedule, the competition format, the teams, literally everything, is subjected to change. So stay tuned for our latest update.
2021 World Championships (WTTC)
After all the cancellation and postponements, World Championships is finally back and will touch down Huston, U.S.A, from 23-29 November 2021. For that reason, Japan launched a selection trial from 30 August to 2 September to pick their World Championships squad. Tokyo Olympians are exempted from this meet as they have been named to the squad already, so the top 2 finisher of the qualifier will book their tickets to Huston. Since Jun Mizutani has announced his decision of quitting the national team, but remain active in T.League in the coming season, the man ending up third in the qualifier will go to Huston as well.

My apologies for the unsatisfactory numbers of updates being made here but I will try my very best to bring news about table tennis in China. Be prepared it might not be as comprehensive as the previous ones but informative enough for you to have an idea of what's happening. Please bear with me.
Looking forward to more updates :D
