Teams secured their spots in the semifinals after actions of day 9. A dramatic women's team showdown between Liaoning and Heilongjiang was played in the quarterfinals, and the latter made to the semifinals by upsetting the defending champion with a 3-1 win. On the other hand, Beijing celebrated another straightforward 3-0 victory in the quarterfinals over a very strong team, Shandong Luneng. Shandong, Hebei, PLA 1 women's team and Sichuan, PLA, Guangdong have also made to the semifinals.
The women's team quarterfinals played between defending champion Liaoning and Heilongjiang is one of the highlights of today's matches. Heilongjiang had a confident start in the doubles match. Following that was a singles match played between long-time rivals and teammates Wang Manyu and Chen Xingtong. Wang Manyu of Heilongjiang was powerful in her returns and won 3-1 putting her team 2-0 up. Wang Yidi of Liaoning kept the team's hope of a repeat alive by winning a 5-game thriller over Che Xiaoxi who also played outstandingly saving lots of incredible quick rallies. However, their hope were crushed when Wang Manyu dominated the match against Li Jiayi who played strategically to Wang Manyu's weak spot. Winning three games in a row, Wang Manyu sealed the victory and leads the team into the semifinals.
