2019 World Championships is less than a month away and the Chinese are going to prepare their athletes with the Warm-Up Matches, to be held from 4-5 April, in Longgang, China. All athletes on the Chinese 2019 World Championships squad will take part in the event but Fan Zhendong, Ma Long, Zhu Yuling and Chen Meng who will be competing at the 2019 Asian Cup in Yokohama, Japan.
Despite the absence of a few top athletes, the warm-up match would be not played without highlights. China's top mixed doubles Xu Xin and Liu Shiwen will play against men's doubles in the meet. It may not be a conventional practice to have athletes of different events battling out in the same match in international competitions but the warm-up matches have often broken the norms having male athletes playing against the female athletes to challenge the top athletes, most notably the 2016 Olympics warm-up match where Li Xiaoxia played against Ren Hao.
The competition is held from April 4-5 (GMT+8). Live stream is available on Zhibo TV (in mainland China only), Longang TV (table 1) and CCTV 5 net (table 1 & table 2). Here are the updates on results & quick notes for you to follow along.
