Hi table tennis fan
ReplyDeleteGood to have you back - as well as the Marvellous 12 ;-)
Thank you! I am glad to see the Marvellous 12 is back too.
Deleteᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ 許昕! 加油! Xu Xin Go Go Go!ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
ReplyDeleteThis is incredible! Great matches! I don't see any domination like the last time. Liu Shiwen has lost and lost and lost? WoW!
ReplyDeleteOk FZD is dominating!
DeleteI LOVE THE STATS FROM marvellous12.sports.qq.com WoW!
ReplyDeleteThe ITTF should do that!
Hi, love your blog, thanks a lot for that;)
ReplyDeleteI wonder if you know the answer to my question - during the award ceremony FZD and Cheng Meng were both holding giant checks
for Y 100000000 if I'm not mistaken.
But that is over a million USD!!
Is that even possible? Are those individual prize money? Maybe it was stated on the check or there was a comment in Chinese (which I obviously don't speak;))?
thanks!
Hi Kataya,
DeleteI am glad to know someone actually like the blog. Thank you. It is really encouraging!
Back to your question, perhaps the decimal point is too small to be spotted out that's why it seems like 100 million RMB to you (luckily I read Chinese and the characters above the numbers explain that). In fact, the cheque included 2 decimal places so the prize money for the winner of the Marvellous 12 is 1 million RMB yuan. And the total amount of prize money for the entire tournament is 5 million RMB yuan (1 million *2 for the winners, 0.5 million *2 for 2 runner-up, and the remaining for athletes who played in the tournament.)
I hope that answers your question. Please let me know what else do you want to read from the blog, I will try my best to improve it.
oh, now that makes sense;) Coz, you know I've converted that amount (not considering a decimal) to USD and was like "wait a minute, it can't be true..."
DeleteAs for your blog - I've occasionally found it in mid-December and can't get enough since then. Your work is amazing, really.
I personally don't play (my husband does on a semi-professional level) but I'm just a regular huge TT fan. And the way you write is perfect, because its clear and interesting for both of us - my husband (who's a bit more profound in terms of understanding techniques, styles, spins etc) and me (who's just admiring the beauty behind the sport).
I come from Europe and we do have a lot of table tennis info in English, but your local insights of Chinese/Japanese/Korean tennis are pure gold.
thanks a lot!!
Thank you! Your comment motivates me. I share your thoughts that ETTU and the forums have done a great job in providing European table tennis news in English but little has been done in the Asian region. Asia is a high level competition field and I am delighted to share the news I know (with the help of google translate) with you all.
