With months to go until the 2018 World Team Championships and 2018 Asian Games, Japan officially announced the squad for the two tournaments.
The big names on the list for the Japanese World Team include Jun Mizutani, Harimoto Tomokazu, Koki Niwa, Matsudaira Kenta and Yuya Oshima from the men's team; for the women, Kasumi Ishikawa will lead the post-00 generation, Ito Mima, Miu Hirano, Hina Hayata and Nagasaki Miyu. The 2018 World Team Championships will be held from 29 April to 6 May in Halmstad, Sweden where Team Japan (both men and women) will be competing at the championship division among 24 teams.

The Japanese plan to send their second-tier athletes to the 2018 Asian Games which is scheduled from 25 August to 2 September in Jakarta, Indonesia.
