On an occasional day when Liu Weishan's parents brought her to a table tennis school, Liu Weishan watched the older kids playing table tennis with keen interest. And this is how the 1999-born Liu Weishan started her story with table tennis in Tianjin.

At the beginning, her mother was strongly against the decision of going professional but as Liu Weishan revealed her potential in regional competitions, her coach convinced her parents to allow her to turn professional. In 2015, Liu Weishan was named to the national team after placing third in the selection camp. Her goal is to make to the A Team as soon as possible.

Shown below is the highlights of the semifinals of the junior girls' team in 2016 World Junior Table Tennis Championships. Liu Weishan is known for her squat serve and her powerful backhand. Will she stand out in the Chinese National Table Tennis Team where competition is intense? Let me know in the comments below.

Liu Weishan is playing in the 2017 Asian Junior & Cadet Championships in Korea and she will be playing in the women's team in the Chinese National Games representing Team Tianjin.
