How good will it be if grand-slam players form pairs to play in mixed doubles? The answer is to win 3 national champion, including 1 at the Chinese National Games. In the past, doubles combination must be formed with athletes from the same province, so we seldom saw doubles formed with 2 top players. While the Beijing team has the luxury to have grand-slam player Ding Ning and World champion, gained his grand-slam title in 2016, Ma Long to represent Team Beijing to play in mixed doubles. Their opponents were very competitive as well from Team Guangdong, world champions, Zhang Chao and Liu Shiwen. The 2013 Chinese National Games mixed doubles finals was a match of speed and ball placement, a match that deserves the woos and wows, and crazy cheers for the spectacular rallies. After 6 close games, the Beijing pairs won 4-2 and clinched the mixed doubles title.

The 13th Games (2017) allows athletes from different provinces form pairs to play in the doubles event. We will definitely see a higher-level competition field as strong athletes can form strong combinations by pairing up with strong athletes from other provinces. However doubles event is about the collaboration between the athletes. Will the newly formed mixed-province pairs in mixed doubles have an edge over the long-time partnership who formed pairs within the same province?

Although I make frequent updates so that I can include more CNG throwbacks before the Games starts, there are always more amazing matches than that I can include. No worries, I have created a playlist to include most of matches from the past Chinese National Games. If I have missed any matches, please remind me in the comment box, I will add them back to the playlist!
