CNG Throwback: The Most Exciting Women's Single Final Ever?

In the previous CNG throwback, we have looked at the match of the 2-time men's singles National Games champion. While there is only 1 person being able to win 2 men's singles title at the Games, there are 3 athletes who have won 2 women's singles title in a row. They are Jiao Zhimin (winning at the 5th and 6th Games), Deng Yaping (at the 7th and 8th Games) and Zhang Yining (at the 10th and 11th Games). Today we will look at Zhang Yining's first women's singles title at the Games at 2005 Chinese National Games women's singles final.

The women's singles finals at the Chinese National Games is often a top-level game field of the women's side. 2005 Chinese National Games women's singles, in my opinion, is the most exciting match among the women's singles finals. The 10th Games in 2005 took place in Wuxi, Jiangsu featured defending Chinese National Games champion, 3-time World Champion and 2000 Olympic champion, Wang Nan and the the reigning World and Olympics champion at that time, Zhang Yining. It was a 7-game-match with Zhang Yining playing an impressive comeback after trailing 1-3 behind.

Despite Li Xiaoxia, women's singles champion of the 12th Games, announced that she would not compete in the 13th Games a few days ago, the 13th Games women's singles field without the defending champion is still filled with established athletes and promising young stars. Will we see a women's singles finals which is as exciting as the one in 2005?

Although I make frequent updates so that I can include more CNG throwbacks before the Games starts, there are always more amazing matches than that I can include. No worries, I have created a playlist to include most of matches from the past Chinese National Games. If I have missed any matches, please remind me in the comment box, I will add them back to the playlist!
