2nd Leg of 2021 Chinese Trials cum Mock Olympics Coming Up Next Week

 

The second leg of the 2021 Chinese Trials cum Mock Olympics will start from 26 to 30 May in Nanyang, China. Men's doubles and women's doubles are added to this leg to prepare Tokyo Olympians for the upcoming Games.

The second leg consists of 5 events.

The women's doubles will be a competition among:
Liu Shiwen / Chen Meng,
Sun Yingsha / Wang Manyu,
Chen Xingtong / Qian Tianyi and
Kuai Man / Shi Xunyao.

As for the men's doubles will include:
Ma Long / Xu Xin,
Fan Zhendong / Wang Chuqin,
Liang Jingkun / Sun Wen and 
Zhou Qihao / Lin Shidong. 

The doubles events adopt a BO5 system and will be played in a knockout format, similar to the format of a doubles match in the Olympic team event. Apart from the newly added doubles events, the singles will be competed among the top 16 finishers from the previous leg in a knockout format. While the 12 pairs of mixed doubles will be divided into 2 groups and the best 4 pairs of each group will advance to the knockout stage. 

Players will earn 10 points for winning each singles match and a corresponding amount of points based on their final standings. The accumulated ranking points (1st leg + 2nd leg) will decide who would book their spots at the WTT Grand Smashes series and 2021 World Championships.
