In a roller coaster ride of a final, it was PLA prevailed in their encounter with Beijing, the defending champion.
PLA dropped the first match 3-1 with Zhou Kai / Kuang Li facing Beijing's strong collaboration of their top 2 players, Yan An and Wang Chunqin. Moving on, Liang Jingkun recovered the deficit beating 3-1 over Liu Yebo. After a lackluster semifinals, Wang Chuqin found out solutions to avoid multiple forehand loops in which he had no quality and consistency due to a shoulder injury. He brought Beijing to a lead beating 3-0 over Kuang Li. Liang Jingkun was looking unstoppable in the forth match. Despite a powerful and agile opponent, Liang Jingkun combated even stronger and claimed positive outcomes against Yan An 3-0 (surely, you don't want to miss it). The title was up for the closing fixture between Liu Yebo and Zhou Kai. Liu Yebo didn't hold back his forehand attacks which put him at a comfortable 2-0 lead but Zhou Kai crushed Beijing's dream of defending their title by making a comeback from 0-2 down. So gold for PLA (the last time they won gold was in 2008), silver for Beijing and the third place shared between Sichuan and Guangdong.
