Catch Up: 2019 Chinese Cadet Nationals Results


While the 3 World Tour events (China Open, Hong Kong Open and Japan Open) in Asia have drawn tons of attention from the world of table tennis, the 2019 Chinese Cadet (U15) Nationals was held from 28 May to 3 June in a relatively low-profile manner at Jiujiang, Jiangxi, There was no live stream but we managed to dig out the final results and a few clips of the tournament.

Over 400 athletes from 36 teams competed at the 2019 Chinese Cadet (U15) Nationals. The tournament includes of 4 events: boys' and girls' team and boys' and girls' singles with winners of the singles event could directly make to the national B team while the other semifinalist would contend for the remaining one spot on the team.

15-year-old Leng Yutong from Mianyang, Sichuan (Zhu Yuling's hometown) won the girls' singles title with a 4-2 victory over Ma Xiaohui of Shanghai. Chen Yi of Shanghai and Liu Xingchi of Sichuan settled for third and fourth respectively.

The boys' singles title went to 15-year-old chopper Hu Dongshen from Hebei. He defeated the dark horse of the tournament Lin Shidong from Hainan at 4-2 in the finals. Huang Youzhen representing PLA came third and Yang Qulong of Shanghai finished in fourth place.

Jiangsu topped the boys' team podium while Hebei and Beijing placed second and third respectively. Shanghai walked away with the girls' team title, Beijing and Shandong Luneng ended in second and third place respectively. Whereas the huge favourite of the tournament Jiangsu girls' team fell short from the podium. 

Most of these athletes will also take part in the 2019 China Youth National Games in the U15 category, scheduled for 4-9 July.
