In Translation: Ma Long's Path From Injury To 3-Time Men's Singles World Champion

How does positive thinking help Ma Long came back mentally stronger after an injury? Here's a translated interview about the 3-time men's singles world champion, Ma Long.

Ma Long came into the 2019 World Table Tennis Championships as the no.11 seed. Many have criticized the current world ranking system does not reflect how good the defending champion (men's singles world champion in 2015 and 2017) is but in some ways it hints the uncertainties in regard to his condition.

Before Ma Long headlined the Championships, winning 3 men's singles world titles in a row, he suffered from the most serious injury he has ever had in his career and had to miss out international competitions for 8 months. The long injury lay-off has not only affected his world ranking but his mental game and training plans. He talks about how he came back from a major injury to the 3-time men's singles world champion in CCTV 5's Star Talk. We have translated the interview and subbed it with English subtitles. Enjoy!

Ma Long has proved himself. When the comeback he made is stronger than the setbacks he encountered, he wins the Championships and earns our respect.

More translated interviews regarding the World Championships will be published next week. Stay tuned!
