Catch Up 2020 Korean Olympic Trials: Lee Sangsu & Shin Yubin Booked Tickets to Olympics

As long as there is a slim chance that the Olympics will be hosted as scheduled in 2021, the Olympic Trials is the hope for athletes to pursue their Olympic dream. After 2 rounds of round-robin, Lee Sangsu and Shin Yubin came first at the Korean Olympic Trials and secured a spot at the Olympics. They will join Jang Woojin and Jeon Jihee, the highest world ranked player of the association, to represent Korea in Tokyo while the remaining 1 spot for the men's and women's team would be decided by the selection committee.

The Korean Olympic Trials were held on 31 Jan to 1 Feb (Round 1) and 3 Feb to 4 Feb (Round 2). Lee Sangsu placed first in round and second in round 2.  With an overall 6 win 2 losses, he wins the tie-breaker over An Jaehyun who came third in round 1 and first in round 2. 17-year-old Shin Yubin becomes the youngest Korean table tennis Olympian in history. She outplayed the team's veterans and walked away with an overall 9 wins and 1 loss. Lee Ziwon and 2016 Olympian Suh Hyowon suffered from injuries and were unable to perform to their best.
