2021 All-Penhold Rematch: 1994 Asian Games Men's Doubles Finals

Korean table tennis legends delivered a rematch of the 1994 Asian Games Men's Doubles Finals after 27 years.

At the exhibition match of the 2021 Korean All-Star Tournament (more @KTTA), Yoo Namkyu, the first men's singles Olympic champion, teamed up with Kim Taeksoo (on-court coached by Jang Woojin) to play against the 1994 Asian Games men's doubles champion Chu Kyosung and Lee Chulsung (on-court coached by Lee Sangsu). Ryu Seungmin was one of the umpires and played a few points with one of the pairs during the timeout! The star-studded match is an entertaining one rather than an intense one. After all, we can't expect players to have the agility of a 20-year old at their 50s. Yet, given it's a rare occasion to watch an all-Japanese-penhold style match (with some staggering traditional penhold backhand pushes) in the era dominated by shakehanders, as well as, a treat to quench our thirst for competition, it doesn't matter the Asian Games champion didn't replicate their success 27 years ago. Let's just set the result aside and enjoy!
