China's 2018 Team World Cup Selection Begins


The Chinese women are set for Chinese Trials to be held on 5 & 6 January and the line-up for the men's team has announced after a series of trials.

7 Chinese women will take to the floor on 5 & 6 January for the Chinese trials, one of the final determining competitions for those who will be considered for making to the 2018 Team World Cup. The 7 players including Chen Meng, Wu Yang, Mu Zi, Wang Manyu, Chen Xingtong, Sun Yingsha and Feng Yalan, has to place top 2 after a round robin competition in order to join Ding Ning, Liu Shiwen and  Zhu Yuling to compete at 2018 Team World Cup which will take place on 22-25 February 2018 in London.

Whereas in the men's game, Ma Long, Fan Zhendong and Xu Xin have earned the trust from the national coaches and secured their spots on the Team World Cup leaving the other 2 spots open to other players. The forth spot was competed among Lin Gaoyuan, Fang Bo, Yan An and Zhou Yu. Yan An won 3-2 (8-11, 6-11, 12-10, 11-8, 11-3) over Fang Bo; and Lin Gaoyuan beat Zhou Yu 3-2 (11-13, 11-8, 11-9, 6-11, 11-2). At the end, Lin Gaoyuan earned the spot after beating Yan An 3-1 (11-6, 5-11, 11-4, 11-4). There are not much news about the selection process of the 5th spot but it is said that the spot is open to young promising athletes only and Yu Ziyang sneaked onto the Team World Cup roster.
