ITTF President Thomas Weikert disclosed details of mixed doubles at 2020 Tokyo Olympics during the launch of ITTF Museum in Shanghai on 31 March. According to his reply, there will be 16 pairs of mixed doubles competing at the 2020 Olympics. Associations can compete in all 5 events but the number of athletes remains unchanged, 3 men and 3 women at most. How would the Chinese build their team to win 5 gold medals in Tokyo? CTTA Releases 2018 Q1 Rankings, Ma Long and Ding Ning Top the Leaderboard


On 18 April, CTTA releases the rankings of the top 50 Chinese men and women players. The rankings are based on the singles results (and results of singles matches in team competitions) at international and domestic competitions at both the senior and junior category, as well as table tennis leagues (including CTTSL, division 1 and division 2). Olympic champion as well as captain of the Chinese national team, Ma Long and Ding Ning ranked first.

Coming up this weekend, on 15 & 16 April, the Chinese men's team and women's team members will gather in Huangshi and compete in the 2018 WTTC warm-up match. The match is designed to prepare the World Team members for the forthcoming World Championships touched down in Halmstad, Sweden from 29 April to 6 May. The Chinese team has undergone 26 days of closed-door training. Hong Kong New Squad in Quest for Podium Finish in Halmstad

The Hong Kong table tennis team met the media at Hong Kong Sports Institute yesterday (on 11 April). The World team led by Wong Chun Ting and Lee Ho Ching will be leaving for the 2018 World Table Tennis Championships on 20 and 22 April and hunt for a podium finish in Halmstad, Sweden. 

2018 WTTC Warm-Up Match Schedule & Live Stream


It has been a longstanding tradition for the Chinese national team to play warm-up matches before major international meets. The 2018 WTTC warm-up match is designed to prepare the World Team members for the forthcoming World Championships in Halmstad, Sweden. Coming up this weekend, on 15 & 16 April, the men's team and women's team members will be divided into separate teams and compete at the warm-up match in Huangshi, China.

What comes before the 2018 World Team Championships? You may have guessed it right. The Commonwealth Games in the full swing but what comes much-anticipated is the 2018 Asian Cup being held from 6 to 8 April in Yokohama, Japan, the host city of 2009 World Championships. 16 men and 16 women from Asian countries will be vying for the Asian Cup title and make their shot to the Individual World Cup scheduled in September (women) and October (men) this year.
